Poll #1230944 Design Star Winner

Jennifer or Matt?

I loved Matt in the beginning, but throughout the season Jennifer has rocked everything she has touched! I have loved everything she has done, espcially her paintings on the walls, whereas Matt is just so-so. I want her to come paint my house! I would definitely watch Jennifer's show and think she is a far better host.

I just love Matt. I love the way he connects to people.

Also, Jennifer's voice is not something I want to listen to for an hour at a time.

I like Matt but I agree that Jennifer's got the edge as far as talent and hosting abilities.

I really don't know who to vote for, it's a tough decision. If I have to choose tho it might be Matt, only because I think Jennifer should have done her homework better when she chose that couch so as to see that it had to be connected. But it turned out alright in the end.

I can't decide either. There are things I love about both of them. Matt is so talented, and besides her talent, I love that Jennifer looks, acts and sounds like Victoria Jackson.

I have to watch it again, as I missed some of it. But, what stood out to me, was that Jennifer had the big family with kids.....So the minute she decided on that white sofa I was like....uggggg...that's going to get dirty quick with kids. It did look like it was a leather type fabric, so it could be cleaned pretty easily, but it still will show everything. Then I also saw the other peace of furniture that isn't always kid friendly, the glass table. Soooo I am going to watch it again when I get a chance and then vote.

i agree about the couch color. i was really shocked that she bought such a light/white couch. it looked great in the space, but surely not practical

Yes, it did look good in the space and her reasoning was perfect, I just wish it had been a better color.

I just watched it again, and I've made a decision. I didn't like Matt's living room furniture either..and his whole design seemed blah..I noticed that as Jennifer's sectional didn't have arms, neither did Matt's chairs, and his couch only had one. I don't know, but none of the living room furniture looked completely comfortable. We like to lay down against the arms of our couch when watching TV..and Matt also had that white cushion hassock, it will get dirty really quick if people put thier shoed feet on it...both thier dining rooms had kinda the same furniture....different colors but were neck in neck on design except for Matt's chandelier which was neat in it's own way, but I just wouldn't like it myself.

So I decided to try to think of the things I liked....I liked Jennifer's wall treatment, it was subtle but different, I liked the red cupboards too, she put the colors together well.... and her kitchen looked finished.....plus she tiled the fireplace. Then I tried to think of what I liked about Matt's place, and well, I have to be honest, I really couldn't think of anything. I mean, I liked the more subtle tone of the cupboards in the his kitchen, but the kitchen itself just didn't look finished and seemed very blah.....it just felt uneven to me. Even though I know what his reasoning is about not having too many cupboards, so it wouldn't look boxed in, I always feel, you can never have too much cupboard space. And if there is a wall in a kitchen for one, put one up, or if you don't, put up one of those pots and pans racks that go on a flat wall. So the walls can serve a purpose rather then just holding up art.

What makes me feel torn is that I like Matt's hosting style....not that I don't like Jennifer's, there is just something about his demeanor that is more calm.

So I guess I have to say I'm going to with Jennifer as hers had a more finished feel, and seemed to have a tad more design features. She is great with wall treatments, that could be her specialty...and she can always learn how to be a better host.

I think part of the problem with their finished designs, both of them and I don't think it's necessairly their fault, it was the challenge. They had to do 3 rooms with for their final challange. Last year Kim and Todd had to do one hotel room. I don't remember how much money or time they had on last year's final challange, but I don't think you can really give the same WOW factors to three rooms, as you can with one.
I thought both houses were pretty, but the judges said several times this season "that room is just not Design Star worthy" and that's how I felt about the final challange.
Don't get me wrong - i LOVE that HGtv is still working hard in New Orleans when the residence there have seemed to slip everyone else's mind. I just don't think this particular challange allowed Matt or Jen to really let it shine. They had to be more concerned with just making sure it was a livable space for these families.

I voted for Jennifer but really? Meh. This whole season has been meh. Every time the judges go one about this group of designers being the best yet, I snorted.
